Section 3.2 Strand A: Data Dispositions and Responsibility
This foundational strand focuses on understanding what data is and developing responsible approaches to working with it. Students learn that data takes many forms, comes from human decisions, and carries both opportunities and responsibilities.
Key Components:
Nature of Data: Understanding data types, sources, variability, and the role of AI
Data Ethics and Responsibilities: Recognizing bias, considering privacy, and understanding the power of data
Investigative Dispositions: Developing curiosity, iteration skills, and agency in data work
From recognizing that “data can answer questions” in kindergarten to “evaluating AI model bias” in high school, this strand ensures students become thoughtful, ethical data citizens.
